Record™ extends the boundaries of Internet and database
technologies to deliver true web enabled metrology asset management.
In today's increasingly regulated world, the requirement to
formally document the operation and maintenance of complex
process plant systems demands no justification. It is of paramount
importance that actions and events can be recorded as they
occur and shared with others expeditiously. To meet these
requirements METCO Services Ltd, working closely with Ambrit
Ltd, has produced a web enabled logbook, Record™.
Electronic logbooks are not new, but most
are simply digital copies of a paper version. Record™
is different, taking advantage of modern relational database
technology and the power of the Internet to provide continuity
of information across time and distance and ensure that key
event data is available to all personnel who need to interact
with plant and process.
Operating as a stand-alone logbook, Record™ combines
state of the art record keeping with secure, remote interaction.
When embedded into Acquire™, Record™ interacts
with dynamic operational data, interlacing real time process
events with normal day to day events to provide new levels
of safety and performance. Record™ and Acquire™
are based on Ambrit's Webspring™ technology providing
a proven dependable technical foundation with secure real
time database interaction on Internet or Intranet networks.
Record™ creates an interactive environment where management,
operations and technicians can collect and share key information
regardless of location. Events and actions are recorded using
automated templates and context specific prompts and menus
to ease the record keeping process and avoid operator error.
Recorded information is automatically date, time and process
data stamped supported by comments and secure digital signatures.
Secure audit stamps can be applied locally or remotely to
reduce on-site audit time.
An equipment inventory provides a complete history of instrument
calibration and maintenance chronologically interlaced with
the process and events. Test equipment with calibration histories
are also maintained within the plant records. In the Flow
Measurement application, special routines are provided which
cater for meter proving, control charts and performance curves.
Equivalent special functions can be added for other types
of process plant. All these features are supported by prompted
inputs to maintain a consistent reporting methodology.
Sophisticated search tools enable detailed analysis of plant
and process records. Reports can be exported automatically
to other systems or emailed with attachments in most popular
formats (Word®, Excel® etc.) to ensure key personnel
are always kept up to date. For added data security a Record™
log book can be synchronised in real time with a copy held
in a secure library at an off site location to providing a
current, web-enabled, read-only back-up.
Record™ is configured using drag and drop editors requiring
no custom software. Support can be extended through the Internet
allowing Ambrit Ltd. to maintain the Record™ logbook
environment remotely. |
