Adding an RTU

The second step in the setup process is to add an RTU.

Adding A Location

Specify the fields as follows:

Field Description
RTU Name This is the name used to identify this RTU.
Configuration Select the configuration that this RTU should use. New configurations are added on the server.
Comms Protocol Specify the communications protocol required to talk to the RTU. The following protocols are supported: Serial / TCP / Modem / Acquire. The selected protocol will determine the setup fields displayed
IP Address (TCP Only) This is the IP address of the RTU.
TCP Port (TCP Only) This is the TCP port of the RTU. For Modbus TCP this is normally 502.

When you have specified the parameters as required:

Click the 'Save' button to create the new RTU or the 'Cancel' button to cancel the creation of the new RTU.

Once saved, the RTU screen is then displayed. From this screen you can click 'Add' to add extra RTUs to the site or click on the 'Profile' menu in the Module bar to choose 'Overview' to view real time information from the RTU.
