About This Manual

The METCO Metrology Asset Management Suite includes Record™, Calibrate™, Inspect™ and Archive™ which all share their equipment data using Inventory™.

Because of the modular design of the Metrology Asset Management Suite, the user manual has been divided up with a section for each application Inventory™, Record™ and Calibrate™. Each application can either run as a standalone application or can be combined together to form the complete suite. When running as a standalone application, each application has its own graphical theme and it is this style that is reflected within the section of the manual. If more than one application is running together then a general Metrology Asset Management theme is used instead.

A number of key terms (Site, Station, Location, Process Element, Tag, Stores, Offsite, Obsolete and Equipment) are used repeatedly throughout the manual to describe the workings of Calibrate™. These terms are clearly defined in the Glossary of Terms at the end of the manual. Please familiarise yourself with these terms before proceeding.

Important - Read this before proceeding!

The Metrology Asset Management Suite has been created to meet strict guidelines for data security and integrity. Before using the system it is important to understand the implications of these guidelines with relation to the deletion of system data:

  1. Data recorded by the system such as logbook entries or calibrations cannot be erased from the system. Wrongly entered data may be "deleted" to hide them from view but are retained in the database and can always be accessed using the Search facility.

  2. Once data has been recorded against an item in the System Inventory the setup detail relating to that item and any child items cannot be modified or deleted. Items can still be added, but no deletions or modifications are possible. Therefore, it is essential that the configuration of a Calibration™ system is checked very thoroughly before any events are entered.
