Adding a Calibration

Although calibrations are carried out for a piece of equipment, they are setup against a tag. This is because the equipment can move but the calibration procedure is fixed for the tag.

To add a calibration click on the 'Calibrate™' button in the Module Bar.

Select the tag in the Inventory Menu that the calibration is for.

Click the 'Setup' button on the Database Bar.

This will present the setup screen for the first available calibration type for the tag.

Calibrations
The 'Calibration' popup menu shows a list of calibrations that are available for the selected tag. For instance setting up a calibration for a pressure transmitter tag will only show pressure transmitter related calibrations. Select the type of calibration required from the popup menu and the form will automatically be reloaded to show the selected calibration template.

Note: If the calibration type that you need is missing from the list then ensure that you have chosen the correct tag type. If it still does not appear then please contact METCO for further assistance.

Schedule
By default the calibration will be created as a non-scheduled calibration. To take advantage of Calibrate™'s scheduling features, select the frequency of calibrations required from the 'Frequency' popup menu. Selecting a scheduled frequency will activate the 'Start Date' popup menus to allow the start date of the calibration to be chosen.

Procedures
A procedure detailing how to perform the calibration can be linked to the setup sheet. To link the procedure, click 'Browse' and locate the calibration procedure on the local hard disk and click 'Open'. It is recommended that the format of the procedure should be a PDF to ensure as many people as possible can read it but other document types such as Microsoft Word can also be used.

Test Equipment
Some calibrations require test equipment to be used as part of the calibration. If the calibration requires test equipment then select the types of equipment that need to be used from the list of checkboxes. When performing the calibration the user will be presented with a popup menu to select the serial number of the equipment used for each selected test equipment type.

Calculation Settings
Some calibrations have a 'Calculation Settings' section. This section determines how the calculation should be performed. Consult the calibration documentation for the calibration to find out more information on how these calculation settings affect the calculation.

Options
Some calibrations have an 'Options' section. This section defines which variations of the calculation should be performed and also affects the available parameters used in the calculation. Consult the calibration documentation for the calibration to find out more information on how these options affect the calculation.

Parameters
Most calibrations have a 'Parameters' section. This section provides default parameters and their unit types. If the parameter must be entered during the calibration leave the values as either blank or zero. Consult the calibration documentation for the calibration to find out more information on how the parameters are used in the calculation.

Other Sections
Some calibrations will have other sections not detailed here as they are specific to the calibration. Consult the calibration documentation for your calibration to find out more information on how the parameters are used in the calculation.

Results
Most calibrations will have a 'Results' section. This section is for the main results of the calculation. Consult the calibration documentation for the calibration to find out more information on how the results are used in the calculation.

Note: The calibration form is in the same format that the user will see when they are performing the calibration. The calibration form has special fields on the page that are only available during the calibration itself. These fields include 'Boolean Input', 'Calculation' and 'Result'.

Comments
Comments can be made regarding why things that have been setup in the way that they are. Comments made are added to the Setup History.

Setup History
The setup history shows an auditable list of changes that have been made to the calibration from the time it has been setup. Click 'Setup History' at the bottom of the calibration setup form to view this audit trail.

Deleting Calibrations
The 'Delete' button does not actually delete the calibration setup, instead it removes it from the calibrations list. This is to ensure there is a full audit trail available for each calibration. To delete the calibration setup click the 'Delete' button at the bottom of the screen. Click 'OK' to the deletion warning and the calibration setup will be removed from the calibration schedule.

Note: Deleting calibrations from the calibration schedule does not affect any calibrations that have been carried out.
